Baptism

Sydney's baptism - June 25, 2011

What a special day! Sydney looked forward to this day for as long as we can remember. Several highlights of the day included:
- Singing "Baptism" with both of her grandpas
- Talks given by her Grandma Winn & Uncle Matt (who arrived from Utah moments before the baptism... THANKS MATT!!)
- Having both sets of grandparents there for her special day
- Being baptized by her dad
- All her friends and ward members who came to share their support
- Going into the water

A few days before her baptism we were going through the check-out at Trader Joes and she told the cashier that she was going to be baptized on Saturday. He was really cute with her and asked her lots of questions. In the end, he said he was baptized when he was 8 too and that she was making a good decision. What a small world that he ended up being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints too! Sydney was soo excited for this day that she couldn't stop talking about it. She invited all of our neighbors and her whole class at school. She's quite the missionary.

Right before we left our house to go to the church for the baptism, Sydney tried on her baptism clothes. She then ran out the front door of our house and ran to our neighbor's house. They were getting ready to go out of town and wouldn't be attending her baptism. She showed them what she was going to wear to be baptized and taught them about baptism. I admit, I was a little uncomfortable with her enthusiasm - but she is so innocent and loving. I am grateful for her example and her shameless testimony of baptism. She's wonderful!!
