SuperStar!!

That's who you are! Way to go Haylee! She was recognized in the month of October for being KIND!! Yahoo!!

The Arm

Haylee's cast came off on October 13. She has to wear a soft cast until November 13. She's handled it all very well. The technician let me take pictures of him removing the cast. I prepared for her arm to be much stinkier than it was. Fortunately, she still treats the arm pretty tenderly. Bath time is MUCH easier now and she has no excuse for not practicing the piano. She's going to start a swim class later today so hopefully the muscle will strengthen quickly.

Happy Halloween!!

Here are a few pictures from our Halloween adventures! The girls wanted to be fairies.... Fawn & Silvermist. We couldn't find costumes that weren't sheer at the top so I made them. The wings were challenging for me - wires, sheer material & hot glue aren't always the easiest of materials. Combine that with spray paint, a spray adhesive and lots of glitter and you've got a HUGE mess. I actually like driving up to my house and seeing the drive-way sparkle. Reminds me that we are a house of girls... and a man who doesn't mind a little shine.

Check out Haylee's faces! Love, love, love this girl!!

Conference Weekend

We had a wonderful conference weekend! Aaron had a meeting in Utah so the girls and I decided last minute to join him. He flew up Thursday and we drove up to met him. We couldn't have asked for a better weekend!!

We stopped in Vegas on our way up and spent the night with our dear friends Bethany & Randy Smith. We love their family! In the morning, we were able to go with Bethany to do drop-off at the children's school. After the twins were dropped off at the kindergarten playground, we went to the office and listen to Savannah read the morning announcements. She spoke clearly and confidently. Sydney loves Savannah and looks up to her like a big sister. I couldn't have picked a better role model for Sydney than Savannah. She is the best big sister - loving, kind, thoughtful. Thank you Savannah for being such a great friend and example to Sydney.

We met up with my sister-in-law at Gracie Lou's Quilt shop in Salem, Utah. Inspiring store!! We got some snuggle time with Brookyln... I mean, Brooklyn. Later, we played with my brother Matt and he helped the girls get out their energy from being in the car all day. Broken arm - no problem.

The girls are obsessed with the Chronicles of Narnia. At Aspen Grove, the next morning, they found this wood frame. Sydney told Haylee it was a gateway to Narnia. They both held hands and walked through it. This picture was taken the moment right before they realized this gateway was closed. They'll have to keep looking.

One of their favorite things at Aspen Grove was this pool table. Aaron taught them a game where they only use their hands (rather than cue sticks). They thought it was great fun - especially since it involved knocking your sister's (or your mom's) ball into the basket.

We were going to hike to Stewart Falls but we couldn't find the starting spot. So, we hiked (walked the trail) up to Bridal Veil Falls. I love the Fall colors!! The girls thought they would want to swim in the pond at the bottom of the falls but decided quickly that it was much too cold.

Haylee's about to blow the fairies off the dandelion. Not sure who taught her this but she and Sydney have great fun chasing down dandelions and blowing them into the air.

This picture was taken right before we hiked down to the BYU stadium to watch BYU play Utah State. The sun was in their eyes and super bright so I told them to close their eyes until I said 3 and then open. It kinda worked!

I took this picture of Sydney, Aaron & Ashley outside the Conference Center Saturday morning. Attending this session of conference was the highlight of our trip. My sister-in-law watched Haylee and we took my niece Ashley. I love conference and loving being in the presence of such great men and women who I admire and respect. As the morning session began, I saw that President Monson wasn't in his seat. I felt sad and disappointed that after traveling this far, Sydney wouldn't be able to actually see the prophet. President Eyring announced that President Monson would be presiding. I kept praying for a miracle and that the prophet would speak to us. Then, during the second song, President Monson came out. Tears started streaming down my cheeks. Then, when he announced the Provo Tabernacle would be rebuilt and become a temple, the tears fell again. What a blessing to all!

We stopped again at the Smith's house on our way back to San Diego and spent the night. We were spoiled!! I laughed when Sister Dalton started her talk addressing the father's of daughters. It sure got the attention of Randy (father of 5 girls) and Aaron.

Love these girls!

Superstar

Sydney got recognized in September for being a superstar in her class. Yeah Sydney!
